Barricade Situation Ends in Elk Grove Village

The man's wife is also inside the home, according to fire officials

A man with a handgun barricaded himself inside a home in suburban Elk Grove Village for a short time Monday as police attempt to negotiate with him.

Around 6 p.m., the 63-year-old man had refused to leave a home in the 200 block of Harmony Lane, according to Deputy Fire Chief Chuck Walsh. The man's wife was also inside the home, but Walsh said the man had not made any threats against her.

Walsh said the man, who has a medical issue, was involved in a domestic incident with his son earlier Monday, but the son is now with police.

Police temporarily blocked off Westview Drive and Harmony Lane while they tried to negotiate with the suspect.

As of 7 p.m. police said the situation was resolved without incident.
