Suburban Man Fatally Shot Moments After Leaving Child's Birthday Party

A 31-year-old man was shot and killed just moments after leaving a child’s birthday day party in suburban Aurora Sunday night, police said.

Around 10:30 p.m., police found Andres Ochoa unconscious and unresponsive with apparent gunshot wounds in the 600 block of High Street, according to authorities. Ochoa was taken to Provena-Mercy Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Investigators later found that Ochoa had just left a child’s birthday party moments before the shooting. Reports show there was a disturbance in the area of the party before the shooting.

Two other people were found by officers near the shooting scene who needed medical attention, but neither suffered gunshot wounds. Police said the two were “less than fully cooperative with investigating officers.”

An investigation into the shooting remains in its preliminary stages and ongoing, but police said it does not appear to be random in nature.

Anyone with information is being asked to call the Aurora Police Department at (630) 256-5500 or Crime Stoppers at (630) 892-1000.
