Man Dies After Getting Caught in Conveyor Belt at South Side Plant

A man was killed when his arm got caught in a conveyor belt at Napuck Salvage of Waupaca Monday morning

A worker died after he was trapped in machinery Monday morning at an industrial plant on the Far South Side, police said. 

The man became trapped in machinery at Napuck Salvage of Waupaca in the 11600 block of South Burley about 9:45 a.m., according to Chicago police and fire officials. His arm became caught in a conveyor belt, according to fire media. 

He was taken to Advocate Trinity Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to Fire Media Affairs. A fire official couldn’t provide the man’s exact age, but described him as “older.” 

Area South detectives are conducting a death investigation.
