Man Arrested After Police Find More Than $6 Million Worth of Drugs

Juan Vazquez was pulled over for a traffic violation when police found more than 900 grams of cocaine

A man was arrested and charged after police found more than $6 million worth of cocaine in his vehicle.

Chicago Police Narcotics Division officers were conducting an investigation involving Juan Vazquez, 28, of the 4500 block of South Christiana Avenue, when they observed Vazquez place two heavy suitcases in his car. Vazquez was stopped by police after committing a traffic violation in the 1500 block of North Kedvale.

When Vazquez did not produce a driver's license, he was taken into custody. Police searched his car and found that the suitcases contained an estimated 54,000 grams of cocaine with a value of about $6.75 million.

Vazquez was charged with one felony count of possessing more than 900 grams of cocaine, one misdemeanor count of driving without a license and a citation for driving without insurance.

Vazquez is scheduled to appear in bond court Saturday.
