Lightning Suspected in Overnight Fires

Mother Nature showed no mercy Tuesday night as another series of summer storms ripped through the Chicago area.
And it's believed that lightning was the cause of a couple of fires.
It's believed lightning struck a home in southwest suburban Frankfort and sparked a rooftop fire at around 11:43 p.m.
The fire took out the roof and chimney of a two-story home on the 22500 block of Home Court.
Fire crews believe the blaze caused at least $400,000 in damage.
Frankfort Fire Battalion Chief Todd Hamm said the family who lives in the home was out of town. Nobody was hurt.
In Naperville, lightning is blamed for starting a 10:05 p.m. fire at a house at 1106 Augustana Dr. in the western suburb, according to a release from the Naperville Fire Department.
The fire was controlled in about 15 minutes, but caused more than $150,000 damage and left the home uninhabitable, the release said.
Nobody was injured.
