Jordin Sparks to Sing National Anthem at Ryder Cup

The "Sparkle" star will perform the U.S. National Anthem Sept. 27

"American Idol" winner Jordin Sparks is bringing her brand of pop and R&B to Illinois' Medinah Country Club this fall.

The "Sparkle" star will perform the National Anthem Sept. 27 at the 39th Ryder Cup Opening Ceremonies, event organizers announced Monday. The ceremonies start at 4 p.m. on the tenth hole of the first course.

"Im so excited to be apart of it!!" Sparks tweeted in reply.

Sparks isn't the only celebrity expected at this year's Ryder Cup.

Justin Timberlake will serve as the first-ever Team U.S. ambassador and is scheduled to appear at the Ryder Cup Gala on Sept. 26 at the Akoo Theater in Rosemont as well as the Opening Ceremonies.

"Golf has been a lifelong passion of mine," Timberlake said in a statement. "There is no greater stage for the sport than the Ryder Cup, and I'm proud to be an Ambassador for the U.S. Ryder Cup team and take part in such a time-honored event."

This year’s Ryder Cup takes place at the historic Medinah County Club from Sept. 25-30.
