A former Loyola University student who had been accused of raping two classmates was sentenced to a year probation Friday after pleading guilty to a lesser charge.
Colin Cahill Kennedy received the sentence after he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor battery, according to court records. He had been charged with felony sexual assault and felony battery.
Kennedy was arrested in January 2013 for attacking the two students during a two-day period at the 350-room dorm at Fordham Hall, 6455 N. Sheridan Road.
Kennedy zeroed in on his first victim after he and the then-intoxicated 19-year-old woman had returned from a night out, prosecutors said. The next day, he attacked his second victim, also 19, after telling her he couldn’t get into his own room and needed a place to sleep for the night, prosecutors said at the time.
The second victim ended up telling her friend — who, it turns out, was the first victim, prosecutors said.
Kennedy, 20, is currently living in California.
