Fire-ravaged Empress Casino plans to reopen its gambling facilities by the end of June, its vice president told a crowd of workers on Thursday.
Hundreds of casino employees have been out of work since fire tore through a portion of the building on March 20. The casino's gambling floor is on a barge on the Des Plaines river, and was not seriously damaged.
However, the part of the structure destroyed by fire will not reopen for at least a year.
