Dick's Donates $164,000 in T-Shirt Sales to JRW

South Loop retailer sold 7,300 t-shirts during tournament

A Chicago sporting goods store gave $164,481 to the city's Little League champions Wednesday,

Dick's Sporting Goods handed a check Wednesday to the Jackie Robinson West Little League baseball program, which amounts to all of the money raised from sales of the team's t-shirts.

Dick's officials say the store started with 300 shirts after the team qualified for the World Series tournament. Those sold out in a matter of days. Following shipments of that T-shirt left the shelves in hours.

Store officials say a shipment of 7,000 Jackie Robinson West All Stars "National Champions" T-shirts sold out in less than a day.

Jackie Robinson West director William Haley says the outpouring of donations has been a big surprise. He says the money will be used to benefit the league, not just one team.

Dicks has stopped selling the shirts.
