Cicero Police have arrested the mayor's nephew for allegedly stealing beer in a Town of Cicero car.

Police said Joseph Terrana allegedly stole almost $300 worth of beer from a Jewel store in Stickney on two separate days, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. On surveillance video, police said they saw Terrana wheel Corona and Negro Modelo to his car in a grocery store shopping cart.

The 41-year-old was wearing an official Town of Cicero municipal jacket when he was arrested on Thursday, according to the Sun-Times. He told police he was on break from his Town of Cicero job at the time. Terrana works part-time as a driver for senior citizens in need.

When police asked Terrana where he lived, he gave the address to the home of Cicero's town president, Larry Dominick. Terrana's aunt Elizabeth is married to Dominick.

As of Friday, Terrana kept his Cicero job without any discipline, according to Cicero town spokesman Ray Hanania.

In a statement, Hanania said the town's inspector general is investigating criminal charges against him. Terrana denies the charges.

Court records show Terrana has been convicted three times before, including twice for theft. He faces two counts of misdemeanor retail theft.
