Father Charged With Murder in Death of 2-Month-Old Baby: Police

The Cook County Medical Examiner's office ruled the boy's death a homicide

A father has been charged in the death of a 2-month-old boy on Chicago's Southwest Side, police said Monday.

Brandon Holman, 34, was charged with one felony count of first-degree murder after police said his 2-month-old son was found dead in a home in the city's Ashburn neighborhood.

According to the Chicago Police Department, at 12 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to a call of a 2-month-old boy who was unresponsive in the 3200 block of West 83rd Place.

He was taken to Hope Pediatric Hospital in Oak Lawn, police said, where he was pronounced dead.

Police said the boy was found with notable bruising to the arms and neck and was believed to have been dead for some time before officers were called.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's office ruled the boy's death a homicide. An autopsy found that he died of multiple injuries and abuse, according to the medical examiner.

It was not immediately clear if Holman had an attorney. Further details on the death weren't immediately known.
