Brazen Bucktown Carjacking Caught on Camera as Group Steals Vehicle in Broad Daylight

The incident was captured on surveillance video from a nearby building. Residents in the area are being warned to be on alert

A man was carjacked by a group of people in broad daylight in the city’s popular Bucktown neighborhood Friday in an incident that was all caught on camera. 

The driver told police he was in the 1700 block of North Winnebago at about 6:15 p.m. when someone walked up and demanded his keys, showing the driver a gun in his waistband.

After that, four more people approached the vehicle, jumping inside it as they fled the scene.

The suspects are described as being between 15 and 22 years old but further information on them wasn’t released by police.

No one was in custody as of Sunday morning. Area North detectives were investigating.
