Attempted Armed Robbery Reported at Skokie Salvation Army

Officers canvassed the area with their K-9 unit, Dino, and determined the suspect left the area

Police in north suburban Skokie responded to an attempted armed robbery Thursday afternoon at a Salvation Army Family Store.

About 3:25 p.m., a man brandishing a gun entered the store at 4335 Oakton and pointed it an employee who was behind a counter, according to a statement from Skokie police. The employee screamed and the man then ran away from the store, police said. The man left without any cash or items.

The suspect is a black man, about 20 to 30 years of age, tall and has a slim build, police said. He was wearing a black scarf, tan trench coat and may have been wearing a wig and fake facial hair as a disguise.

Officers canvassed the area with their K-9 unit, Dino, and determined the suspect left the area.

Police are asking the public to call 911 if they see anyone matching the description.
