A mass shooting outside of a suburban Chicago home left seven people injured Monday night.
Friends and family had been gathered on the porch of a Calumet City residence in the 300 Block of Campbell Avenue just after 7 p.m. when a car pulled up and opened fire, according to police.
The group had just gotten home from a funeral, officials said.
Six people were hit by the bullets and a seventh person was hurt while running away from the gunfire, according to Calumet City police. All of the victims were adults.
At least 19 yellow evidence markers could be seen scattered along the neighborhood roadway after the shooting.
Police say at least two people appeared to have life-threatening injuries. The victims in critical condition were rushed to Cook County’s Stroger Hospital, and others were taken to be treated at St. Mary’s in Hammond, Indiana.
The shooting may have stemmed from an argument that had happened at a liquor store down the street between a group of people who had attended the funeral and another group, according to reports.
