A SWAT team standoff outside an Uptown building that lasted six hours ended with the capture of several suspects Monday night.
Chicago Police Officers assisting an ATF Task Force went seeking a "wanted individual" who was believed to be in the area, a release said. ATF and Chicago Police Officers found one of the suspects walking toward his vehicle and apprehended him at about 4:15 p.m.
Police converged on a building in the 4600 block of North Broadway shortly afterward in an attempt to apprehend one or more suspects associated with the investigation.
Shortly after 8 p.m., SWAT teams stormed the building, and authorities announced after 10 p.m. that two suspects had been captured. In total three people surrendered.
Chicago Police Media Affairs confirmed that the initial suspect was from Indiana and was wanted for an unspecified crime.
CTA service resumed in the area. Train service on the Red Line and the Purple Line express shuttle service had been suspended in both directions between Berwyn and Addison during the standoff. Buses in the area also were rerouted.
