Records Show 12-Year-Old, Grandpa Argued Days Before Man Was Killed

Ohio court records say a 12-year-old boy and his grandfather fought over doing chores just days before the 80-year-old was killed.

The boy has been charged as a juvenile with murder in the death of Fowler Agenbroad last August. The boy is now 13.

The Cincinnati Enquirer reports that court documents say that two days before Agenbroad was found unresponsive they had a violent argument, and police were called.

Records say the boy struck Agenbroad with metal and Agenbroad hit his grandson with a cane on Aug. 3. At the time, the boy told police they had argued about doing the dishes, according to the Enquirer.

No charges were filed, and Agenbroad, who WLWT reports had custody of the boy after his parents died of a drug overdose, agreed to let him return home.

Two days later, paramedics were called to the home, where they found Agenbroad unconscious with a broken neck, according to the Enquirer.

The boy was placed in a youth home as authorities investigated, and he was charged with murder and reckless homicide seven months later on March 13.

Officials said the boy denied those charges at a hearing Tuesday in Hamilton County. He was scheduled to appear in court again on March 24, WLWT reports.

The Associated Press generally doesn't identify juveniles charged with crimes.
