One person is dead and another is critically injured after a car flipped off the side of Lake Shore Drive Thursday night.
The single-car rollover occurred around 7:25 p.m. near Sheridan Road in the city’s Edgewater neighborhood, according to Fire Media Affairs.
Hours later, at 10 p.m., the vehicle could still be seen flipped over off the side of the roadway near the 5700 N. Lake Shore Drive.
Northbound Lake Shore from Foster to Hollywood Avenue was temporarily shut down for more than two hours while authorities investigated the scene.
As of 10:30 p.m., the police and fire department were giving conflicting reports on if the victim was a man or woman. The Cook County medical examiner’s office could not immediately confirm the fatality.
