Woodfield Mall is reopen after the search of nearly all of the Schaumburg mall's 300 shops Monday, following reports that a man with a gun may have entered the mall.

Police received a call about 11:20 a.m. from someone who reported seeing two suspicious men, one whom the person believed to be armed with a handgun, inside the mall, Schaumburg police Sgt. John Nebl said.

The suspects were initially spotted near an upper level entrance, referred to as Door 6, Nebl said.

Officers spent about three hours conducting a systematic search of the mall.   Police were not allowing anyone to enter the mall but those who were already inside were being allowed to continue their shopping.

As of about 2:30 p.m., every store had been searched and officers had moved their search to the mall's back hallways and other areas, such as garbage dumpsters.

Nebl said the mall was completed reopened once officeres were confident "the subject is no longer here."

No injuries have been reported and no arrests made.

The mall is the number one tourist attraction in Illinois, according to Woodfield's Web site.
