A man who was reportedly carrying a gun was shot and killed on the CTA Red Line early this morning.
At 1:40am, officers in the Deering District responded to a call of an armed man on the Red Line at 220 W. Garfield. When police approached the man, 19-year-old George T. Lash, a struggle took place and the man pointed a gun at the officers.
Both officers pulled their weapons and fired shots at Lash. He was taken to Stroger Hospital and pronounced dead at 2:31 am.
The weapon was discovered at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
