Taylor Swift Holds Grudges, Releases New Album

The album's a lot about learned lessons

Bygones are not bygones in the music industry, and Taylor Swift wants you to know it.
In her latest album, “Speak Now,” coming out at midnight on October 25th, the 20-year-old singer reportedly addresses much of the gossip surrounding her career and personal life.

According to the Times, Swift utilizes her music to say what she might want to, dropping her typically whimsical, charming persona to explore a more raw, emotional edge.. “I feel like in my music I can be a rebel,” Swift said. “I can say things I wouldn’t say in real life. I couldn’t put the sentence together the way I could put the song together.”   One track, “Dear John,” touches on some tabloid fodder—Swift’s reported romantic entanglement with fellow crooner John Mayer. Swift sings:

You’ll add my name to the long list of traitors
Who don’t understand
And I’ll look back and regret how I ignored when they said
“Run as fast as you can!”

Of course, what Taylor Swift grudgefest would be complete without at least alluding to the Kanye West incident at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, where West famously interrupted Swift’s acceptance speech.

Speaking of Kanye, it’s been a big weekend for the rapper as well. Yesterday, his 35-minute short film “Runaway” released, which also alluded to the VMAs.

Swift said via Twitter that she was eagerly anticipating the release, saying “I woke up and realized my album comes out at midnight tonight. Woah. Just.. [sic] Woah.”

As of October 24th, four singles have already been released from her album.
