Rihanna and and now ex-boyfriend Chris Brown used to be close, until he assaulted her in February before the Grammy Awards.

Chris Brown has taken to giving relationship advice.

The R&B singer who pleaded guilty to beating then-girlfriend Rihanna bloody posted a link to a video montage of he and the pop princess in better times on his Twitter page with the text: "IM SORRY YALL. JUST HAD TO POST IT."

"FOR THE FELLAS: showing emotion doesn't make u weak... BEING HONEST MAKES U STRONG," he wrote on his page today.

It's likely Brown was waxing nostalgic about his former girlfriend when he published the link to the user-made YouTube video, which is set against the backdrop of R. Kelly's "The Way We Used to Be" and shows the two embracing, sharing tender kisses and performing together on stage.

For now, Brown will have to cling to those happy memories since he isn't allowed within 50 feet of his ex-love.

The 20-year-old singer tried to explain his behavior during an interview with New York radio station Hot 97 last week.

"I regret every second of it," Brown said. "I'm human. Of course you're gonna have your thoughts and opinions. I'm not gonna say they're wrong. But at the end of the day, it's not right to judge someone. People make mistakes all the time."

Brown pleaded guilty to felony assault charge over the summer and was given five years probation and 180 days of community labor. He was also issued a restraining order for five years.
