Judge Stevens Denies Blagojevich Trial Delay

Justice John Paul Stevens has, without comment, rejected former Governor Rod Blagojevich's petition for a stay of his trial proceedings.

The decision by Stevens comes almost immediately after the United States government filed a 35-page document outlining their opposition to delaying the trial.

Blagojevich and his brother, Rob Blagojevich, remain scheduled for a June 3rd trial start.

Blagojevich's lawyers had been seeking to delay the trial until the Supreme Court ruled on the so-called "Honest Services" statute.
