Former Alderman Manny Flores had considered a run for mayor but instead is throwing his support to Gery Chico.
"I appreciate the calls of encouragement, but after much soul searching I will not run, not the right time," Flores Monday morning outside Moos Elementary School in Humboldt Park.
The popular alderman quickly endorsed Chico, who's already entrenched in the race to succeed Mayor Daley.
"Gery is a reflection of Chicago - he has lead a very successful career," Flores said.
Chico says he is proud to nab "one of the best endorsements" in the city.
"I've never been one in seeking credit," Chico said. "But in seeking results."
