The Buzz: 71 year-old David Luechtefeld is a retired social studies teacher, athletic director and basketball and baseball coach. He has served as senator for the 58th District since 1995. He is a lead sponsor for medical malpractice reform legislation and has also worked towards increased crime legislation as well as funding for education.
He is pro-life and an advocate for clean coal technology. Luechtefeld is a strong proponent for the 2nd Amendment. A bill he sponsored allowing in-state purchases of ammunition recently came under attack after a shooting that occurred Colorado.
