Johansson, McAdams, Adams and Winstead Considered for Damon's “Zoo”

Cameron Crowe is on the hunt for a wife for Matt Damon.

Scarlett Johansson, Amy Adams, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Rachel McAdams are being considered to star opposite Damon in Crowe's adaptation of the Benjamin Mee memoir "We Bought a Zoo," accoridng to Deadline, with Johansson the odds-on favorite.

"Zoo" is the story of a man who deals with his wife's diagnoses of terminal cancer by rehabilitating a rundown zoo in the English countryside with the help of his kids, siblings and recently widowed mother.

Johansson has already been passed over for two of the best parts available this year, losing out to Rooney Mara for "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo," and Sandra Bullock (maybe? probably?) for "Gravity." Though she may be the frontrunner for "Zoo," she and Winstead are both way too young to play Damon's wife, frankly.

Which would leave McAdams and Adams. If it were up to us, we'd go with Adams, whose shown better range and depth over the years.

Crowe hasn't written or directed anything since 2005's much maligned "Elizabethtown,"  and Damon's had a dreadful year thus far with "Green Zone" and "Hereafter" both being major disappointments. Let's hope these two can get back to form.
