Can you stand how Smurf-tastic that still from "The Smurfs" looks?

A photo of Grumpy, Papa and Clumsy adrift in Times Square was unveiled in USA Today, and tomorrow a trailer is scheduled to premiere on Yahoo. These teasers comes just a few weeks after a diligent YouTuber posted footage of Hank Azaria done up as Gargamel shooting a scene outside of FAO Schwartz.

So how exactly did those delicious blue mites wind up in Gotham?

"Unfortunately, Clumsy goes the wrong way into a forbidden grotto where a few other Smurfs follow," director Raja Gosnell ("Scooby-Doo") told the paper. "Because it's a blue moon, there's a magical portal that transports them to Central Park."

Our heroes then must find their way back home, getting some help along the way from a live-action couple played by Neil Patrick Harris and Jayma Mays ("Glee"), and with Gargamel hot on their heels.

Unfortunately, the softening of our youth will continue as Gargamel is no longer interested in eating the Smurfs, he just wants them for their magical powers. Apparently they were afraid of making "a family version of 'Sweeney Todd.'" Wuss.

The film, a combination of CGI and live-action, also stars Sofía Vergara ("Modern Family"), as well as the voices of Katy Perry, Alan Cumming, Anton Yelchin, Paul Reubens, B.J. Novak, George Lopez, Jonathan Winters (the perfect choice for Papa Smurf), Fred Armisen, Kenan Thompson, John Oliver, Jeff Foxworthy, Tim Gunn and Wolfgang Puck.

Don't get too excited, however, "The Smurfs" isn't due out until July 29, 2011.
