Young Hockey Fan Attempts to Recreate Viral Kane Video

“If he can do it so can I,” a caption in the video reads

One young hockey fan hopes he can play with Patrick Kane someday. He’s starting his training by attempting to recreate the puck-handling skills the winger displayed in a viral video last season.

Tom Murray says when his 9-year-old son heard that Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane would re-sign with the Blackhawks in an eight-year contract extension, he decided to make a video.

“He says he has a chance to play with them now,” Murray wrote in an email to NBC Chicago. “I love his determination.”

The video, titled “My Goal,” mimics the viral video of Patrick Kane’s puck handling drills (see below), with the 9-year-old player weaving a puck around a maze of other pucks.

“If he can do it so can I,” a caption in the video reads. “I’ll practice, stay dedicated, and be ready in eight years.”

The deals with Kane and Toews will keep the Blackhawks' cornerstone players with the team through the end of the 2022-23 season, and will take effect next season.

"It's great to be able to continue my career in Chicago," Kane said in a statement. "Since I was drafted by the Blackhawks, the people of Chicago have really embraced me and treated me with nothing but respect. I look forward to many more years of success with the Blackhawks."

Maybe some of those years will be alongside his young admirer.
