First Black Priest Ordained in Chicago Dies

When the Rev. Rollins E. Lambert became a priest in 1949, he was the first African American ordained in the Archdiocese of Chicago.

A convert from the Christian Science Church, he found his calling after attending an Easter Mass at Holy Name Cathedral, and he studied the church's teachings while he was a student at the University of Chicago.
