Bears Need Help at Cornerback

When thinking about the Bears' biggest need this offseason, your mind may go to the offensive line or the aging linebacking corps. Or perhaps Brandon Marshall needs some help at wide receiver. But with recent changes on the team, corner-back may be the Bears' biggest problem.

Tim Jennings and Charles Tillman were two of the league's best in 2012. Jennings led the league in interceptions while Tillman led it in forced fumbles. Their combination was scary to opponents, but neither played a full season. Tillman missed the first game of the season, and dealt with assorted aches and pains throughout the year. At 32, it's likely Peanut's aches and pains will continue, if not worsen, in 2013. Jennings also missed two and a half crucial games in 2012.

Why is this a problem? Because the Bears decided this week that they will parts ways with D.J. Moore after three years. Kelvin Hayden is an unrestricted free agent who is planning to test the market. Zack Bowman is also an unrestricted free agent. If all three are gone, the Bears will be without any back-ups at corner-back.

It's a need they'll have to look at during the draft and free agency. Tillman and Jennings are important enough that they deserve good back-ups.
