Who's Chicago's Gay Idol?

Finals for singing competition set for June 13

If you can't get enough of the latest Susan Boyle news, or consumed by the question of whether Adam Lambert is in or out of the closet, we have the perfect upcoming local event for you -- especially if you're particularly interested in Adam.

The seventh annual Windy City Gay Idol finals are scheduled for June 13th at Sidetrack (3349 N. Halsted), with the show kicking off at 4 p.m.

Twelve winners from nine preliminary competitions will compete for the crown as Chicago's best amateur gay or lesbian singer.

The winner will be chosen by audience votes at the finals. The top prize is $1,000, a pair of American Airlines tickets, Skyy Vodka merchandise and product, an Ipod touch, tickets to Broadway in Chicago, and a invitation to sing at Toronto's Halloweek street festival.

The audience will also be winners too, with opportunities to win a trip to Toronto and tickets to Ravinia and Broadway in Chicago. The $10 cover charge gets you a drink and raffle ticket.

Guest performers will entertain the audiences throughout the competition as well including Jason Antone, who will launch his new CD, dance diva Suzanne Palmer and the reigning 2008 Windy City Gay Idol Cori Calderon.

And if you're extraordinarily lucky, maybe Adam will even make a cameo.
