White Sox Star Yoán Moncada to Use His Own Song as Walk-Up Music in 2021

Yoán Moncada to use his own song as walk-up music in 2021 originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago

It might not come as much of a surprise, but it's still a little ridiculous, when you think about it.

When Yoán Moncada ventures from the White Sox dugout to the plate at Guaranteed Rate Field in 2021, the walk-up music that will be playing will feature a familiar singer: Yoán Moncada.

Certainly by now you must have seen the music video for Moncada's foray into music, his song "Desastre Personal." It features much poolside dancing and some ... let's call them notable fashion choices.

For the uninitiated:

Asked Tuesday if he'd be playing it on the South Side, Moncada made a rare comment in English: "My walk-up song? Yeah."

Then, through team interpreter Billy Russo, he added: "Yes, I am planning to use that song as my walk-up song and just play it everywhere."

Who knows if it will become a staple of Chicago radio or Guaranteed Rate Field tailgate playlists. It's no "Back in Black," the walk-up song of former White Sox catcher James McCann, or "Icky Thump," which accompanied former White Sox pitcher Carson Fulmer into games. It's not even "Your Love," the legendary walk-up music of former White Sox infielder Gordon Beckham.

But you'll hear Moncada's tune plenty over the PA system. So get ready for it to get stuck in your head, at the very least.
