Bulls' Zach LaVine Gets NBA 2K21 Overall Upgraded to 87 After Hot Start

LaVine gets 2K rating boost after hot start to season originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago

Zach LaVine began the year rated an 85 overall in NBA 2K21.

In the moment, that figure felt low. LaVine started NBA 2K20 with the same rating, and that was before enjoying a career-best 2019-20 season.

Well, his torrid start to the 2020-21 campaign is already paying dividends. The game's latest roster update saw LaVine's rating bump from 85 to an 87.

How good has LaVine been through the Bulls' first 14 games? He entered Thursday the league's fifth-leading scorer, trailing only Bradley Beal, Kevin Durant, Damian Lillard and Stephen Curry. And he's posting career-high marks in myriad other categories as well -- markers of a player whose scoring efficiency and all-around game are still only improving.

"I feel I’ve gotten better each year in the NBA," LaVine said after posting 33 points and 7 assists in a recent win over the Houston Rockets. "Little things I hear and read I use as motivation. I see myself as a top guy in the league and I want to show that."

2K ratings likely don't register too glaringly on his radar. But it's another indication that his status in the NBA may be about to swell.
