Kyle Schwarber Has Some Fun After Being ‘Plunked' by Pitch

Chicago Cubs pitcher Jose Quintana will make his postseason debut on Monday, and he described his feelings on pitching in a playoff game at the Friendly Confines.

Sunday was a day of learning at Wrigley Field, as a young man learned a very valuable lesson: do not pitch inside to Chicago Cubs slugger Kyle Schwarber.

The young man, Cubs first base coach Brandon Hyde’s nine-year-old son Colton, was pitching to Schwarber during batting practice at the Friendly Confines on Sunday, when he threw just a bit too far inside to the slugger:

As can be expected when a pitch comes too close, Schwarber charged the mound, chasing Hyde around in a fun-spirited “confrontation.”

Schwarber and the Cubs enjoyed a nice brunch and some football games on the big screen on Sunday as they prepare for Game 3 of their series with the Washington Nationals. The series will resume on Monday afternoon at Wrigley Field, with Jose Quintana opposing Max Scherzer.
