Yusei Kikuchi got roughed up for the Mariners, allowing a total of six runs in five innings of work, and the Mariners bullpen surrendered four runs in the final three innings of the contest.

Domingo Santana hit a home run for the Mariners in the first inning of the contest, but Seattle’s defense was nowhere to be found in the bottom of the frame, as they committed three errors. Jose Abreu notched an RBI fielder’s choice, and Moncada followed that up with a double to center field that scored two more runs and made it a 3-1 game.

The White Sox added three more runs in the bottom of the second, with Anderson picking up two RBI on a single and Welington Castillo knocking in another run on a double play.

The Mariners weren’t done, however, and slowly clawed their way back into the lead. Dan Vogelback and Ryon Healy both hit home runs to help key the rally, and when Mitch Haniger hit a two-run home run in the sixth, the Mariners edged in front by an 8-6 margin.

The White Sox weren’t done, and they took the lead back in the seventh inning. Castillo got an RBI when he was hit by a pitch, and then Moncada delivered again, hitting an RBI single to center field to drive in a pair of runs and make it a 9-8 game.

Anderson added an eighth inning home run, and Kelvin Herrera and Alex Colome teamed up to keep Seattle at bay in the final two innings to secure the victory.

The White Sox will attempt to take their second in a row off the Mariners on Saturday, as they send Lucas Giolito to the hill.
