Chicago White Sox Shut Down Dylan Cease for Season

The Chicago White Sox have one of the most loaded farm systems in all of baseball, and several of these stars could end up on the South Side this season!

Chicago White Sox fans hoping to see another top prospect make his way up to the big leagues this season will be disappointed by the news the team announced Friday.

The White Sox announced before their game against the Detroit Tigers that they will shut down Dylan Cease for the remainder of the season, as he has already pitched a career high 124 innings this season.

The team says that Cease is not injured, but that they have decided to limit his innings.

Cease, who was acquired from the Cubs in the Jose Quintana trade last summer, started 23 games at Class-A and Class-AA this season, posting a 12-2 record and a 2.40 ERA in those games. He also struck out 160 batters in 124 innings while walking 50.
