Luis Robert Headlines Chicago White Sox Arizona Fall League Participants

Luis Alexander Basabe will also be on the roster of the Glendale Desert Dogs

 The Chicago White Sox have one of the most loaded farm systems in all of baseball, and several of these stars could end up on the South Side this season! 

The Chicago White Sox will be well-represented in this year’s Arizona Fall League, as they send six of their top prospects to the annual developmental league.

Highlighting the list is outfielder Luis Robert, who is the third-rated prospect in the team’s farm system according to MLB Pipeline.

In 45 minor league games this season, Robert has a .267 batting average with 17 RBI and 12 stolen bases, and he will be looking to showcase his skills for the Glendale Desert Dogs as they compete in the AFL.

Luis Alexander Basabe, who competed in the 2018 MLB Future Stars game, will also play for the Desert Dogs. He has 15 home runs and 56 RBI in 498 plate appearances between Single-A and Double-A this season.

Here are the rest of the White Sox prospects heading to Arizona:

P Tanner Banks

Banks has a 12-7 record and a 2.65 ERA in 22 starts with the Birmingham Barons and Winston-Salem Dash this season.

P Zack Burdi

The Downer’s Grove native, a first round pick of the White Sox in 2016, is recovering from Tommy John Surgery, and has appeared in seven games for the team’s Arizona Rookie League squad this season.

SS Laz Rivera

The 2017 draft pick is having a strong season in the minors, hitting 12 home runs and driving in 57 RBI in 495 plate appearances. He has also registered 16 stolen bases and a .315 batting average in his first full minor league campaign.

P Zach Thompson

Thompson has spent time in Class-A and Double-A this season, registering an impressive 1.63 ERA and racking up 74 strikeouts in 71.2 innings with the clubs this season.

The Desert Dogs will begin their AFL season on Oct. 9 when they take on the Peoria Javelinas. Streaming and television information will be released at a later date.
