Chicago Cubs Sign Jorge De La Rosa, Transfer Yu Darvish to 60-Day D.L.

The Chicago Cubs have inked pitcher Jorge De La Rosa to a one-year contract and added him to their 25-man roster, the team announced Friday.
De La Rosa, who most recently pitched for the Arizona Diamondbacks, has a 4.63 ERA in 42 relief appearances for the team this season. He has held left-handed hitters to a .220 average this season, and has allowed one run or fewer in 39 of his 42 appearances.
To make room for De La Rosa on the 25-man roster, the Cubs optioned Randy Rosario to Triple-A Iowa. To clear a spot for the pitcher on the 40-man roster, the team also transferred pitcher Yu Darvish to the 60-day disabled list as he continues to battle an arm issue.

The decision to put Darvish on the 60-day DL is retroactive to May 27, meaning that he can still be activated at any time.
