Trio of Cubs Rank Among MLB's Best-Selling Jerseys

Three Cubs landed in the top seven on the list

The Chicago Cubs have one of the best records in the National League, and the team's success has translated into thousands of fans buying new jerseys this season.

On Friday, Major League Baseball revealed its top 20 selling jerseys of the 2018 season, and three Cubs players landed in the top seven spots on the list.

Infielder Javier Baez, who is having an MVP-caliber season and has delighted fans with his prodigious power and sparkling defense, is the best-selling of the group, checking in at number three on the list.

The Cubs got more than they could have imagined from Cole Hamels when he was acquired in a trade, and his finest moment came in late August as he gave up one run and struck out seven batters in a complete game victory against the Reds.

Bote, who became a folk hero after his walk-off grand slam against the Nationals, hit a walk-off homer in late August against the Reds that prompted one of the biggest celebrations of the season.

First baseman Anthony Rizzo, a Gold Glove winner and the team's emotional leader, is the sixth-best selling jersey in the game, and former NL MVP Kris Bryant checked in just behind his "Bryzzo-mate" at number seven.

New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge is number one on the list, one of two Yankees to make the top-10. Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve is number two, with Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw and Boston Red Sox outfielder Mookie Betts rounding out the top five behind Baez.

The list was generated from sales data gathered by MLB.com since Opening Day of the regular season.
