Chicago's 24th Ward Alderman Sharon Denise Dixon likes to call attention to something that Danny K. Davis said to her after she graduated from Manley High School in just 3 years.
"You must have been the smartest one in Manley High School," Davis told her.
Now she's looking to replace the man she revered.
A graduate of UIC, Dixon entered into politics as a community activist, establishing the 16th-to-8th Street Central Park Avenue Block Club. Dixon won her 24th Ward aldermanic seat by a mere 192 votes during a run-off on April 17th, 2007.
