The Candidate: Dan Duffy

The Race: Republican Candidate for the Illinois Senate in the 26th Legislative District

The Competition: Amanda Howland

The Buzz: Incumbent Dan Duffy supports increased government transparency, opposes tax increases, wants to repeal the Affordable Care Act, believes in encouraging companies to increase investments in green energy and opposes red light cameras.

Duffy wants to require each state government body to publish all the checks it writes online, according to his campaign website. Additionally, “Companies doing business with the State of Illinois should meet the same disclosure requirements as candidates running for office,” he says.

Duffy supports a repeal of the latest income tax increase, and feels the state's budget should be broken down into various bills, rather than debating and passing a single overall bill.

He hails from the Chicago’s South Side and is the owner of a small business.
