Tips of the Trade: 2011 OC Philharmonic House of Design

Maison de la Mer, this year’s House of Design presented by the Philharmonic Society of Orange County and California Homes Magazine in Newport Coast is a beautiful French inspired home with wonderful indoor/outdoor elements that are perfect for entertaining. Several top designers from Los Angeles and Orange County kept in mind the home’s color palette, architecture, and perfect location with stunning views to create this relaxing and luxurious home. Well known LA-based designer David Phoenix, the lead designer for the project, welcomes us inside and shares his tips to create a focal point and comfort in the Kitchen. Orange County based designer Frank Pitman explains scale and dramatic flair in the lower level entertainment lounge. Newport Beach’s Eve Lowey mixes modern and rustic aesthetics in the lower level wine cellar and tasting room. And, Glendale‘s Melinda Ritz creates that special jewel box in the guest suite with the vibrant hues of green, patterns, and lighting. This week’s episode of Open House was hosted from a Riverfront Retreat in Bedford, NY.
