Bug Exposes 1,000 iPhone, iPad Apps to Possible Hacks

A piece of bad software exposed about a thousand iPhone and iPad apps to potential hacks — and some are still vulnerable, NBC News reported. The bug was contained in a piece of open-source software commonly used by thousands of apps, and makes it easy for a hacker to trick the app into sending unencrypted information, cybersecurity firm SourceDNA reported Monday. While most affected apps have been fixed, some popular apps like ride-sharing service Uber were still at risk. SourceDNA has created a search tool to check whether apps are safe to use.
