Slain Chicago Woman Shot 20 Times: Report

Police said the woman had witnessed her boyfriend gunned down last summer

A woman who witnessed the fatal shooting of her boyfriend last year died Sunday after being shot more than 20 times, police said.

Kimberly Harris, 25, was shot around 7 p.m. in a backyard in the 2900 block of West Arthington Street in Chicago's Lawndale neighborhood, according to the Chicago Tribune.

According to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office, Harris was pronounced dead an hour after the shooting at Mount Sinai Hospital.

Harris’ boyfriend allegedly was a high-ranking gang member. He was killed last summer.

An autopsy in Harris' death is scheduled for Monday. No arrests have been made.
