A 72-year-old woman was critically wounded inside her home after a shooting Wednesday night on the city’s Southwest Side.
At approximately 7 p.m., the woman was sitting in her home when she shot in the chest, arm, and leg, according to the Chicago Police Department. The shooting occurred near 72nd and Sangamon Streets in Chicago’s Englewood neighborhood across the street from Guggenheim Elementary School.
At least nine bullet holes could be seen in the door jamb of the home.
The woman, who has not been officially identified, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition, according to investigators. As of Thursday, her condition was reported as stable.
Officers have not said whether she was the intended target.
