Winter Storm Warning Issued for LaPorte County

When will the cold weather finally break its grip on Chicago? NBC 5’s Kalee Dionne has the latest forecast. 

A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for parts of Northern Indiana, the National Weather Service says.

The warning, in effect for LaPorte and St. Joseph counties, will be in effect until 7 a.m. Eastern Friday, according to the NWS. Up to 12 inches of snow could fall in localized areas, with four to eight inches of snow expected for much of the area.

Wind chills of up to 15 degrees below zero are also on tap for the area.

Porter County in Indiana is also under a Winter Weather Advisory beginning at 6 p.m. Wednesday to midnight Central time on Thursday night.

Two to five inches of snow are expected, with the northeast part of the county expected to receive the most snow.
