Third Fire Truck Accident in Three Days

Cars not pulling over for fire trucks

It's been three days and three accidents for the Chicago Fire Department. It seems people aren't following the rule to pull over and stop when you see a truck and hear sirens.

Saturday's accident happened at Logan Blvd. and Elston Ave. Saturday morning around 10 a.m., according Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford. A woman ran into the firetruck.

"She said she heard the fire truck but she didn't know where it was coming from," Langford said. "Everyone else at the intersection stopped."

Friday's accident happened while a fire truck was responding to a fire around 8:15 p.m. It happened at Cermak Rd. and Hoyne Ave. Langford said the driver of the car appeared to be intoxicated and was hospitalized.

On Thursday, a firefighter was injured when his engine ran into a building at Division and Wells after hitting a car. The woman driving the car was ticketed for not yielding to the fire truck.
