Four teenagers were hurt Tuesday night in a drive-by shooting in the West Woodlawn neighborhood on Chicago’s South Side.
The shooting happened just blocks from Woodlawn Center South, where Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Sen. Dick Durbin and Rep. Bobby Rush are scheduled to meet later Wednesday with U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Shaun Donovan.
The group plans to discuss plans to revitalize that neighborhood.
The teens were sitting on a porch on the 400 block of East 62nd Street around 9:40 p.m., police said, when someone inside a sliver vehicle pulled up and opened fire on the group.
A 14-year-old boy was shot in the right thigh, a 15 year old was shot in the left hip, a 17 year old was shot in the left thigh, and an 18-year-old man was shot in the lower back.
All four were taken to area hospitals in critical condition but were stabilized by early Wednesday, police said.
Calumet Area detectives are still looking for the shooter. No word yet on the make and model of the suspect’s vehicle.
