Demonstrators want president to end deportations of illegal immigrants

Eight women and four men were arrested Wednesday outside the Hilton Chicago while protesting deportations of illegal immigrants and calling for a comprehensive immigration bill. Police had to use a circular saw to cut through the PVC pipe linking the protesters together to arrest them.

A dozen protesters were arrested Wednesday morning after police said they blocked the street in front of the Chicago hotel where President Barack Obama was scheduled to attend an evening fundraiser.

Eight women and four men were linked together and lying on South Michigan Avenue in front of the Hilton Chicago while protesting deportations of illegal immigrants and calling for a comprehensive immigration bill.

Video shows police cutting through PVC pipe with a circular saw to arrest them.

Police said the protesters were taken into custody without incident.

Obama was scheduled to attend a pair of fundraisers at the Chicago Hilton and a private residence  for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.
