Police released surveillance footage Friday of a man who allegedly assaulted a woman on a Blue Line train last week.

The 22-year-old woman told police the incident happened about 6:15 p.m. on June 15, according to a community alert.

The woman said she was seated on a Forest Park-bound Blue Line train running through downtown when a man next to her began touching her inappropriately, the alert said.

The woman moved away and got off the train when it reached the next stop at LaSalle Street, police said. The man, described as 45 to 55 years old, followed her out and up an escalator before running back down to the platform and boarding another Forest Park-bound train, the alert said.

The suspect is described as a bald, 5-foot-8 to 5-foot 9 white man of a slender build and light complexion, the alert said.
