Police Seek Suspects After AT&T Store Robbery

Bold criminals robbed a cell phone store on the city’s Southwest Side, putting a gun to the neck and back of the clerk working at the time. NBC 5’s Michelle Relerford has more on the investigation.

The search is on for two suspects after they held an AT&T worker at gunpoint on Thursday morning.

The suspects are accused of stealing approximately 50 cellphones in a robbery at the store, which is located at the corner of 41st and Pulaski.

During the robbery, one of the offenders held a gun to the worker’s back and neck. They ultimately escaped, and police are scouring surveillance footage for clues as they search for the robbers.

“They asked if we have any cameras, or if we were aware of what happened next door,” Martha Benavente, an employee of a nearby hair salon, said.

Benavente said that she didn’t hear anything during the robbery, and was shocked that the intruders pulled guns during the incident.

According to police, there are cameras inside of the AT&T Store, and police are reviewing that footage in the search for suspects.

The suspects fled the scene in a black vehicle, and were wearing dark clothing at the time of the attack, police said.
